Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT)
This is one of the world’s renowned eco-centre. It features interactive displays and working examples of sustainable living and renewable energy.

King Arthur’s Labyrinth
Journey by boat on an underground river and discover the original legends of King Arthur

 

Meirion Mill
Famous for a wide rang of woollen and other traditional goods

 

Corris Craft Centre
10 independent craft businesses are based here. Most of the goods offered for sale are made on the premises

 

Y Tabernacl Museum of Modern Art
This has 6 beautiful exhibition spaces which house throughout the year exhibitions of Modern Welsh Art.

 

TalyLlyn Railway
Most of this narrow guage railway is within the Snowdonia National Park and there are waterfalls and walks to be found on the journey

 

Sandy Beaches
These are to be found a short drive away at Aberdovey, Borth and Ynyslas.

For the more active

 

Golf.
Machynlleth has a 9 hole (5726yard) heathland course which is surrounded by wonderful mountain scenery. The club has a reputation in the area for friendliness and tee times are readily available.

 

Also nearby are the championship courses of Aberdovey and Borth.

 

Mountain Biking
The 4 graded trails in the area are rapidly gaining a reputation throughout Europe and Machynlleth plays host to several National competitions.

 

Cycling
Being on the Sustrans Route 8, Machynlleth makes an ideal stopover for those travelling the length of the country.

 

Quad biking and Clay Pigeon Shooting are available in the area

 

Bird watching
The RSPB at Ynyshir offer a large number of hides and also host events, aimed at fostering interest, throughout the year.

 

Leisure Centre
In addition to swimming pool, fitness room and squash courts this also has a climbing wall and indoor bowls rink

 

Walking
Machynlleth is approx. in the middle of The Glyndwr Way which is a long distance walk and many people stop over for a day or two to rest their feet and recharge their batteries. More gentle guided walks take place every week

 

Town Trail
Using the guide you can trace the high spots in the town’s history.

 

Cader Idris
is the second highest mountain in Wales and can be climbed by various routes.
