We had a very comfortable stay in Machynlleth at the start of walking the Snowdonia Way. Becca was especially helpful in getting us a packed lunch instead of breakfast as we had to leave so early. Highly recommended! - Ian G
A comfortable stay in the charming village of Machynlleth. A very friendly hostess and a delicious breakfast. A perfect stopover on the Snowdonia Way.- S
Stayed here for one night whilst cycling enroute from Hereford to Caenarfon.I turned up cold, wet and tired after a hilly route in sideways rain and 40mph winds.I was met by the lovely and friendly hostess (so sorry, I've completely forgotten your name...came from Leeds though 😁) who shook my wet hand and opened the garage for me to store my wet bike and equipment in.The house was really warm and inviting on a very cold June Thursday evening. Cyclists are really made so welcome here, its almost like arriving at a friend's place. The room was warm, bed was very comfortable and the bathroom et al was spotlessly clean and uncluttered.Tea and coffee making facilities were made use of as was the Fish & Chip shop across the road (note...you can sit in and eat, and the staff appeared unflustered to see yet another bedraggled cyclist in weird shoes come into get some food)Back at Maenllwyd for a long hot shower and a cosy bed for the night.Breakfast was at a reasonable time so no rushing to get up, and the full Welsh cooked breakfast on offer along with some fresh fruit juice, cereals, fruit and tea and coffee was all available.I believe luggage can be dropped off in advance if you are touring or bikepacking light as I was.Overall, the guest house is an excellent option to stay either for an overnight stop or if you want to explore the area for longer, particularly if you are cycling or hillwalking. The hosts are brilliant, lovely and friendly people who are happy to help where they can.Maenllwyd really is an excellent place to stay. Can't recommend it highly enough.Thank you so muchP - P
